New Bible Study from Sola Publishing

Sola Publishing, one of the partner ministries Lutheran Core, has produced a new women's and men's group Bible study for 2009, entitled: “One For All: Experiencing the Exclusive Claim of Christ.”

This nine-session Bible study, written by Pastor Steven E. King, explores the center of our faith by focusing on the unique and exclusive promise of salvation in Christ. It examines not only the claims that Jesus made about himself in Scripture, but the claim that the Lord makes on our lives as well.

“In this study, I think people will see right away what we mean when we say that Sola Publishing is interested in producing materials that reflect a respect for God’s Word and the integrity of the Lutheran faith,” said Pastor King. “We want to provide a biblically- and confessionally-grounded alternative to studies that are available elsewhere.”

By focusing the promise that "the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all" (2 Corinthians 5:14), the study makes an unashamed presentation of salvation in Christ alone. It also seeks to show how God makes us a part of His mission to spread this good news to our neighbors.

I always believed that gay people "chose" to be. I now understand that gay people are born that way! I know that is not the way most Christians think.
It took my son to "come out" last year to realize this fact. He bluntly asked me:"do you think that I want to be gay?"
I still don't have all the answers. I most likely will NOT have these answers in my lifetime. I have been searching, questioning, researching.
What I now know is that for instance "The Ten Commendants" are blantenly abused! Much of God's word is abused by the people who spit on gay people!
Children before marriage, adultery, making "gods" from money, sports people, music groups, etc. are a simple few other "wordly" sins of God's people.
Now, I'm not sure how I feel
about "off the charts" people filling pastoral needs. Why?
Well, I could easily say I would prefer adults that are/have been married to shepherd parishes. OOPS! Divorce! What does the scripture say about that?
I think something about divorce is allowed if there is physical abuse, adultery...hmmm...
I don't for sure think that gay people should be placed in a Leprosy colony!
I have been forced to look at this great dilema because of my son.
It was easy for me to "judge" before because I was not forced into opening my heart and mind.
God loves these people as He loves ALL the people! No one is able to live in this world w/o sin.
A sin is a sin is a sin!
Please help me...I remain...

I don't think anyone who opposed the CWA resolutions is saying that gay people should be put in a leper colony, or abused in any way.

I am a recovering alcoholic. I did not choose to drink too much either, but inherited genetics made me more prone to it. Each day I have to make a choice that I'm not going to drink that day.

What those who opposed the ELCA's decision believe is that Scripture is clear on homosexual conduct - not orientation - and that there is no provision in Scripture for "committed same-sex relationships." I am sorry if you have been led to believe that we hate gay people, because that is not the case. Christ died for all, regardless of sexual orientation.
