Upcoming Event: "By What Authority?"

Supporters of Lutheran CORE are cordially invited to attend a special event sponsored cooperatively by several midwestern WordAlone Chapters. Sharing the name of the newly released book by the WordAlone Network, the event is entitled "By What Authority?"  It will feature presentations on the state of the church in the present culture.   The event will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2008, at the Mount Carmel Ministries new camp chapel facility (800 Mt. Carmel Drive, Alexandria, Minnesota).

The event is being sponsored by four WordAlone Chapters, from: the St. Cloud area, the Alexandria area, the Fargo area, and the Starbuck area.  Other ministries connected with WordAlone and Lutheran CORE will be in attendance.

By the way, if you have not yet purchased a copy, you can order the book: "By What Authority" online by following the link HERE.  Subtitled: "confronting churches who no longer believe their own message," the book features a collection of essays by laity, clergy, and scholars.

You might want to be aware of another educational opportunity coming up in September. On September 28 & 29 (Sunday & Monday), "Call to Faithfulness" (CTF)a CORE affiliate reform group in NE Iowa, will be sponsoring a conference, "God's Word or Ours: A Conference on Faith and Life" at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Dr. Robert Benne will be the keynote speaker along with Dr. Roy Harrisville, III, Pastor Erma Wolf, and Pastor Steve King. Fuller information may be found on the CTF website at www.calltofaithfulness.wordpress.com Among the topics to be covered will be the "Book of Faith" initiative of the ELCA and the Draft Social Statement on Human Sexuality, along with strategies and resources for reform in the church.
