Members of the LC3 Steering Committee have been serving to set up and guide the association, as well as to initiate connections with pastors and laity in their own areas. Some of our “regions” are quite large. In our cooperative effort of reform and renewal, are have been working together with CORE-Contacts and WordAlone SPOCs (synod-points-of-contact) to try to encourage a broad participation in our common mission.
In order to better represent the LC3 throughout the country and within synods, we are looking for additional people who would be willing to serve as “advisors” to the LC3 Steering Committee, to help facilitate communication and make personal contacts to colleagues and friends. We hope to find people willing to take on a “recruiter” function, letting people know about the LC3, and serving as a local contact point for questions and feedback. If you are interested, please write to LC3@charter.net and let us know.
On this blog page, you will find information and announcements of interest to Lutheran Core members and congregations, along with an archive of older news stories. Official L-CORE news can now be found on the main website, at: http://www.lutherancore.org/category/news/ (see "news" link below).

New Resources Page
Lutheran theology is grace-centered and solidly rooted in the scriptures. There are many resources available to assist a congregation in teaching and passing on this treasure. The steering committee of the Lutheran Churches of the Common Confession (LC3) desires to aid congregations in reclaiming their confessional heritage. To this end, a helpful resource link has been added to the LC3 web page. On the “Ministry Resources” link at www.commonconfession.net/resourcesmainset.htm are dozens of resources to assist congregations in their desire to be faithful lights in an often-stormy world. Most of the suggested resources are organized under the seven statements of the Common Confession. The link is not intended to be exhaustive but it should point both individuals and congregations in the right direction to some of the best resources available.
In addition to publicizing this new development, we also want to remind congregations to consider registering for the 2006 WordAlone Convention, “Pulpit, Pews and Parents: Teaching the Christian faith to all generations.” At the convention, participants will have the opportunity to address this crucial issue through lectures and workshops. LC3 and the Lutheran Coalition for Reform (CORE) also will host informational workshops and open meetings for participants and observers. This important gathering is quickly approaching, April 30-May 2, at Calvary Lutheran in Golden Valley, Minn. If you have not already done so, please consult the link at http://www.wordalone.org/ for more information.

Mission Projects
We are currently pulling together a list of ideas for how congregations of the LC3 can work together on specific mission projects. We will soon be publishing a catalogue of recommended ministries and missions, with a little information about each. Refer to the “Mission Projects” page on the LC3 website for an example of what we have in mind.
If you are a pastor or member of an LC3 congregation with a specific mission project that you would like to recommend, please let us know. We would be happy to hear your ideas. If you are supporting the development of a new mission congregation, or if your congregation might consider helping “give birth” to a new congregation, let us know as well. These are the ways that we can begin to support each other in our common work of the gospel.
Feel free to send a note to LC3@charter.net to share your ideas. While you’re at it, why not give a call to the other LC3 congregations in your area to talk about ways that local congregations can begin working together in your region.

LC3 Assembly: Golden Valley, MN
The LC3 Steering Committee has been at work preparing for the next official assembly of the Lutheran Churches of the Common Confession, to be held alongside the WordAlone Convention, April 30th-May 2nd, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Members of the Steering Committee will have the chance to make plenary presentations for the whole assembly, as well as to lead workshops for questions and discussion.
The Steering Committee will share the resources it has been preparing. These will include a first draft of the Bible Study on the Common Confession, as well as an introductory brochure on the LC3, designed to be handed out at Synod Assemblies and for mailing to churches of the ELCA.
In addition to the LC3, our partner organization “Lutheran CORE” (coalition for reform) will meet in Golden Valley as well, reporting on their progress over the past few months. Please join your Christian friends and colleagues from across the country for days of faithful reflection, renewal, and reform, as we come together in worship, study, and fellowship. For information on registration, go to http://www.wordalone.org/ .
